First off get all your pieces out and make sure they are all there. There should be enough floss to do two cards but if not it is dmc 1310 available at most craft stores for 29 cents.

Begin by cutting your thin white strip to look like snow I left this for you to do so you can make it look like how you want. Next position the buttons to look like a snowman. Leave a little space at the top for his top hat. Next bust out the paper piercer and punch a hole for each button hole and make holes to form stick arms for the snowman. Again I left this up to you to allow for artistic freedom.

Now you will want to separate your floss removing two strands of floss (there are six in each string) Begin sewing on your buttons and tie the sting on the back or tape it down (this actually works best on thinner paper) after you are done attaching the buttons move on to the arms and sew them on. Look he is starting to look like a snowman already.

Now that you got your needle warmed up its time to sew ric racs on that long blue piece I was nice enough to punch holes for you this time around so have at it.

Now after it is all sewn you can attach it to the card. I did it this way so that you wont be able to see the stitching on the inside of the card.
now that the hard part is all done you can attach the snowman on the white square. I chose to ink the edges in my example. But that is up to you. Also add the top hat.

Now put it all together. put the blue snowflake on the white circle and place the snow man and snowflake where ever you like. I like the little tilt look.

Tada all done and ready to send out. Enjoy.

Santa Baby wont you come down my chimney

I finally broke down and bought a couple copic markers. I got two skin tone ones. I colored the rest with my ink pads water color style. The stamp i used actually was wearing a cowboy hat but i blocked it off and added a Santa hat. Another neat part of the tag is the vintage dictonary page i used featuring an entry for Christmas.

Stamps: Memory makers (snowflakes, merry christmas, tag) Bombshell stamps (pin-up girl). Ink Ranger black soot and stamping up tulip. Fibers manila tag and dictonary page all random stash.

Feeling Festive

I have grown to love hand-sewn cards. I thought it would be fun to sew a tree card again, but this time add buttons for ornaments. I love buttons and i have so many of them. I also used my new slice to make the base and the star as well. I really like the way it turned out I feel it looks festive and folksy/ primitive at the same time.

So now that halloween is sadly over my mind is starting to switch to the winter holidays. Sadly I can't afford to buy much this year (as most of us are) but I can give what I have an abundence of love. I think the best gifts come from the heart and that is why this year is so special. I am giving alot of hand-made gifts this year which is something you just cant get at the mall. I am hoping also to possibly trade for gifts this year as well. So if you are also a crafter and see something you like let me know Im sure we can work something out. I also do custom work as well if you are interested in that. happy holidays.

Big Tags for Big Presents

Well we went out and got the new making memories slice. And I got the FaLaLa card for it as well. i was playing with it and this is what I came up with. Originally i was making a card front and wasn't sure how tall I wanted the card when Susan said i should make a giant tag for a giant present. So thats what unded up happening. Almost everything on this tag is cut with the slice with the exception of the tag itself and the snow banks in cardstock and vellum. Since this card is a total departure from what I normally do i had to add at least one original touch and bubble wrap stamped the trees. So far my review for the Slice ... it is nice and portable with no cord. I can just throw it in my bag and go. It has some nice items to diecut with quite a nice selection on the start-up card alone. However, the drawbacks ... you need to cut each thing individually and you need to hold the machine (not unlike a router) Also it get tempermental at times and overheats as well. Sometimes you get a distorted cut and it will not cut heavy cardstock at all. I cut some light vellum and it handled that well. It seems to do best with the el chepo michals cardstock. I also do not like the gluing idea (putting glue on the glass to make it tacky. There has got to be a better way. All in all I am not as happy with the slice as I thought I would be. But i think it is worth keeping. if you dont have another cutting system and you are looking at getting one. make sure you weigh the pros and cons of this system before getting it. Granted I have not used it much yet and there is alot more to learn about using it, but there are quite a few cons as well as pros. Well there is my two cents. I will post more as I use it more.

Butterfly Queen

i busted out the Bombshell stamps again. they are like crack i can't keep my hands off them. I decided instead of making the same ole same ole card i would make a shipping tag instead. I stamped the girl first and colored here using SIU inkpads unless otherwise noted. For the skin i used CTMH terracotta and chocolate chip. For the cape i used tulip (CTMH) and really red. Buckeroo blue and sky blue for the clothes, and tulip (CTMH) and chocolate chip for the hair. I used a silver pen by signo for some of the details on belt and Bikini top. The butterflys are also Bomshell stamps and i used a button in my chocolate chip ink to get the bubble effect. I think the fun part was adding teh button chain which will more than likely make an apperace on other cards I make.

Hello Ladies

I got these new kick butt stamps from bombshell stamps. They make tattoo inspired stamps. To make these I colored them in with a light wash of water color. I enjoyed making these and plan to add more in the very near future.

Here is my little witch girl. Only 6800 stitches to go until im finished. she is stitched on 38 count over one with dmc floss. On Irish linen. Hopefully will have her done by October first as she is a gift.
